Pinkies Out - Gesha Washed

Nehemias Guevarra of San Andres, Lempira just took home first place in the Honduras Cup of Excellence in the coveted traditional category this June. He didn't compete with this gesha, he actually won with a washed typica, but it's easy to imagine him doing quite well after tasting this coffee. We were lucky enough to taste it in one of several cupping tables at San Vicente headquarters in Peña Blanca, Honduras earlier this spring. Needless to say, we pounced on it.

This gesha is incredibly complex, teeming with spicy, fruity, and herbal aromatics. To dutifully list all its tasting notes would result in an entire paragraph. There is something to be said of a washed coffee of this caliber. When all the innate characteristics are laid bare: the terroir, the sugar content, the acidity, not aided nor augmented by fermentation, and the results are this stunningly vibrant, it is truly awe-inspiring.
