Senderos coffee, “sendero,” meaning “path” in Spanish, signifies the importance of exploration and new discoveries.
This coffee originates in Beneficio San Vicente, a family-owned and operated dry mill on the Santa Barbara Mountain, founded by Fidel Paz Senior in the 70s. Fidel’s sons Benjamin and Fidel Jr, and nephew Arturo have since inherited the operation and carried the legacy forward by assisting the farmer cooperative to increase quality to a specialty coffee standard.
Santa Barbara, Honduras, which grows arabica coffee exclusively, is now known as one of the leading regions in specialty coffee farming practices. The region generally produces chocolatey, fruity coffees with exquisite acidity and high quality–characteristics often found in Bourbon, Catuai, Caturra, Pacas and Typica.
The farmers in this region consistently win top honors in the Cup of Excellence competitions, raising both their sphere of influence and awareness regarding cup quality.
